Police in Florida have released the arrest video of former NFL wide receiver Damoun Patterson being charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and armed burglary of a dwelling after an Orlando home invasion. The Daytona Beach Police Department also charged Patterson with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.
The 31-year-old had previously been on the rosters of the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Pittsburgh Steelers, but never played in a regular season game. He did catch two preseason touchdown passes: one with the Steelers in 2018 and one with the Patriots in 2019. He also played in the XFL and CFL.
According to a charging affidavit seen by The Daytona Beach News-Journal, police issued a BOLO, or be-on-the-lookout, for Patterson and a stolen vehicle tied to an Orlando home invasion. Using “law enforcement technology,” Daytona Beach Police officers searched a section of Silver Beach and South Atlantic Avenues and located the vehicle, a white 2025 Kia SUV, in the area of the 700 block of Silver Beach Avenue and conducted a “high-risk traffic stop.”

In the video of the arrest, which took place more than 50 miles away from where the home invasion occurred, officers ordered Patterson to get out of the car at gunpoint.
“You be cool with me, we’ll be cool with you,” the police officer said, brandishing a gun as he instructed Patterson to carefully exit the vehicle.
FOX 35 News reported that authorities found a “machete-style knife” on the front passenger seat of the Kia.
During his arrest, Patterson told officers that he was a Pittsburgh Steelers player. He said that he broke “both toes” after the team reportedly timed him at 23 mph.
Patterson attended Wekiva High School in Apopka and played college football at Utah State for one season before transferring to Highland Community College, then finishing with his last two years at Youngstown State.
In his NFL debut on August 9, 2018, Damoun Patterson caught six passes for 77 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown from quarterback Joshua Dobbs, in a 31-14 Steelers win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Before facing cross-jurisdictional charges brought by Orlando authorities, Patterson was held at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
