This footage is tough to watch. Not because a man suffers great pain. No, it’s tough to watch because I’m a firm believer a grown man shouldn’t bring a glove to a game and this weakens my position.
It shouldn’t though. Catching a lazy pop fly in a hat isn’t exactly the most difficult thing to do. At least making contact should be a breeze. I literally have no idea how you watch a pop up slowly come down and smash into your face — no matter how many beers have been consumed.
What I do know is Paul O’Neill would never let something like this happen.
