The Auburn basketball team got in the holiday spirit with a hilarious “Home Alone” spoof on social media. Ahead of a trip to New York, head coach Bruce Pearl forgot one of his best players on The Plains.

The Christmas play came as the squad gears up for a non-conference showdown with Notre Dame, and it’s sparked quite the reaction online.

The Tigers are headed to Brooklyn this week to take part in the Vivid Seats Legends Classic. They’ll be part of a field that also includes Oklahoma State and St. Bonaventure. Auburn is doing all it can to get ready for the Big Apple.

At 1-1 on the year, Pearl and Co. are looking for a win in hopes of padding the out-of-conference resume.

The Tigers are fresh off a 21-13 campaign where they reached second round of the NCAA Tournament. A repeat performance could be in the works with Auburn picked by the media to finish sixth in a competitive SEC.

Unfortunately for their upcoming matchup, they’ll be without one of their best players! Well, sort of.

To get fans geared up for the game against the Fighting Irish, the social team posted a comical clip playing on the holiday favorite, “Home Alone.”

In the video, the Tigers left starter KD Johnson sitting outside the arena. Similar to what we see in the classic film, Bruce Pearl only remembers his forgotten playmaker once it’s too late!

Followers loved the post, leaving their reactions in the comments section.

“Creative content team going crazy this year.”

“Bruce for best actor 2023.”

“War Eagle ya filthy animals!”

Luckily for the Tigers, they won’t be without Johnson’s services. The guard is averaging 9.5 points per game on 50% shooting. He also leads the team in steals, emerging as a key threat on both ends of the floor for the AU lineup.

Auburn isn’t the only SEC school excited for the holiday season. In fact, in the football team’s most recent matchup with Arkansas, Razorback players were caught watching “The Polar Express” in the locker room at halftime.

The timing of that entertainment didn’t paint a great picture of the program with the Hogs trailing 27-3 at that intermission.

As for the Auburn basketball team, players and coaches are sending out those Christmas vibes before their contest on the hardwood. We’ll see if the Tigers can keep the fun going on the court against the Irish.
