Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair established himself as one of the villains of the NFL this weekend with a brutal cheap shot against Trevor Lawrence. The veteran linebacker was lambasted all over social media for a hit that people unanimously agreed was way over the line.
Everyone except Al-Shaair, apparently. After the NFL upheld his three-game suspension, Al-Shaair trolled the NFL with a social media post, showing that doesn’t have much remorse.
First, here’s the hit.
Watch Trevor Lawrence immediately after this horrific hit. His right arm suddenly flexes as his left arm simultaneously extends. Lawrence is clearly sliding down with plenty of time for Azeez Al-Shaair to slow up. But, he decided to level him anyways. He was ejected from the game, and the hit started a tussle that led to another ejection as well.
Azeez Al-Shaair was suspended three games by the NFL, but appealed his suspension. On Wednesday evening, it was announced he lost that appeal, which sparked this social media post.

If that’s the route that Azeez Al-Shaair wants to take, that’s his prerogative. But, it won’t endear him to the league’s fans. The hit was clearly dirty, and there’s really no defending it. He did release a half-hearted apology earlier in the week, but that’s not going to cut it.
