Baker Mayfield is once again headed to the bench.
Last week, Mayfield started in place of an injured PJ Walker and was absolutely abysmal. In his game vs. the Ravens, Mayfield threw two interceptions, was sacked three times, and failed to throw any TDs in the team’s 13-3 loss.
This game has gone off the rails 😂

After the loss to the Ravens, Mayfield was honest about he felt about losing.

“It sucks, to be honest with you,” he said. “We prepared. Felt like—like I said—game plan, felt like everything was ready and there for us. We just, we didn’t execute. And it’s tough. I’ll be honest with you. I put my heart and soul in this. And this, this sucks. I just hope everybody feels the same way, to be honest with you. That’s how you get things turned around. You have to care about it. You do.”
On Monday, the team announced they were benching Mayfield in favor of Sam Darnold while Walker continues to heal from his ankle injury.
Panthers announce they are making another QB change: Sam Darnold replaces Baker Mayfield in starting lineup.
PJ Walker is still recovering from high-ankle sprain and Mayfield threw 2 INTs in 13-3 loss to Ravens. So interim HC Steve Wilks now going with Darnold.
