Baker Mayfield’s name has been among trade rumors for quite some time now, but with the recent developments involving Deshaun Watson possibly landing in Cleveland, the Mayfield rumors have started swirling at an entirely different level.

Watson is reportedly meeting with the Browns on Tuesday with Cleveland executives gauging his interests in possibly playing for the Browns next season.

If the Browns were to strike a deal with the Houston Texans to trade for Watson, most would assume Mayfield would then head to Houston. That isn’t the case, however.

According to a report, the Texans aren’t interested in Mayfield being their quarterback. If Houston were to trade for Mayfield, it could look to deal him to another team in a separate trade.

So, where could Mayfield actually play football next season?

NFL insider Ian Rapaport joined ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday and mentioned two teams: the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts.

“It wouldn’t make sense to me if Baker Mayfield was part of a Deshaun Watson deal,” Rapoport told McAfee. “I think it would be more ‘you give draft picks’ and then say Baker is available, does a team like the Colts or the Seahawks, do they then make a play for Baker?”

The Colts recently dealt Carson Wentz to Washington, while the Seahawks are without a QB after trading Russell Wilson to Denver.

Mayfield’s current contract expires at the end of next season. He’s set to make $18.8 million during the 2022 campaign.
