Beer prices at the College Football Playoff national championship game are trending as attendees brace for high costs at the concessions.

As seems to happen each and every season, the skyrocketing prices to attend major sporting events make headlines throughout the year.

We saw it last year at SoFi Stadium in a game between Georgia and TCU. In that case, you’d find Modelos listed at $17 each with wine options falling in the same range.

And making matters worse, there was no pregame tailgating!

TCU fans needed that alcohol, no matter the cost, to forget about the 65-7 beatdown the Bulldogs handed them. The prices for beer at NRG Stadium in Houston this season don’t look like they’ll be much different.

Brett McMurphy posted a photo of the menu for the national championship game, and those in attendance will pay a hefty price to get adequately lubricated.

A domestic bottled beer will cost you around $13 at the concessions stand while a premium bottle option is just under $15. For draft beers, the price is a dollar and a half higher at $16.55.

College football followers quickly commented on those beer prices.

“No shot I’m paying those prices.”

“This is criminal, the stadiums should be ashamed.”

“This is ridiculous… Football fans shouldn’t be going broke at sporting events.”

Social media users took note of a few other menu items, including the $7 water bottles and $6 bag of pretzels, but the alcohol will certainly be the priciest of items at the national championship game.
