Former NBA star Ben Gordon is back in trouble with the law after being arrested for striking his 10-year-old son at LaGuardia Airport.

The 39-year-old Gordon, who is the only player to have ever won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award as a rookie, was arrested by Port Authority cops on Monday.

According to the New York Post, Gordon was placed into cuffs at 8:45 p.m. and barred from getting on a flight to Chicago.

Gordon’s son was taken by an aunt and visited Long Island Jewish Children’s Hospital for a medical evaluation.

Two Port Authority officers reportedly received minor injuries while making the arrest.

Ben Gordon has had several previous run-ins with the law since his retirement

This is the latest in a string of arrests for Gordon since he last played in the NBA in 2015 with the Orlando Magic.

Gordon was arrested four times in 2017, once for felony robbery and another time after he reportedly locked a woman inside a sports rehab facility he owns and brandished a knife until police could free her.

Gordon ended up hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after the latter arrest.

His third arrest that year was for pulling fire alarms at his Los Angeles apartment building.

He was also arrested for driving with a forged license plate in November of 2017.

In 2020, Gordon opened up about his “obsession” with killing himself in a powerful confessional for The Players’ Tribune.

In that story, Gordon revealed he had been suffering from bipolar disorder, but that the 18 months of therapy he was ordered to complete by a judge had saved his life.

Charges against him are currently pending.
