In his third season with the team, former Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow has led the Cincinnati Bengals to the divisional round of the playoffs for the second straight season. Last year, of course, Burrow and the Bengals went all the way to the Super Bowl.

During their run to the Super Bowl last year, Burrow established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the game — a trend of development that only further continued in his third season.

Naturally, given that Burrow has developed into a franchise quarterback, the team would be wise to lock the 25-year-old signal-caller for the majority of his career, which is exactly what owner Mike Brown said the team plans to do. This, obviously, is far from surprising given that finding a top quarterback is one of the major keys to success in the NFL.

“He’s going to have a long career,” Brown told the team’s radio broadcast before the win against Baltimore o Sunday, according to ESPN.

“We certainly want it to be here. I think his window will extend over his whole career. But there is the fact that when you don’t have to pay the quarterback some extraordinary amount, that leaves room to pay other players more and, therefore, you can keep more players that are good players.”

This is obviously exactly what Bengals fans want to hear as Burrow is arguably the best player the franchise has had in decades, particularly when it comes to the quarterback position.

As a result of their victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round, Burrow and the Bengals will continue the defense of their AFC title when they head up to New York to take on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Kansas City Chiefs, the #1 overall seed in the AFC, will come off their bye week to host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
