Betting companies made a ton of money on people betting on Conor McGregor.
On Saturday, McGregor made his long-awaited return to the Octagon to face off against Max Holloway.
Going into the fight, McGregor was a +275 underdog to Holloway.
Despite not having fought in five years, McGregor was the betting favorite to win the fight.
According to ESPN Bet, 92 percent of the money bet on McGregor-Holloway was placed on McGregor.

Unfortunately, McGregor went down with a bizarre leg injury in round one of the fight.

After the fight, McGregor claims he did not enter the fight with a pre-existing injury.
My head gasket is gone. Destroyed. I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell.
The UFC also released footage of McGregor throwing kicks backstage before the fight, implying that he wasn’t hurt before going into the cage.
