Clemson (+5.5) vs. LSU | 8:00 PM EST on ESPN

Best Bet: Over 69.5 total points (-110)

We’re going to keep things simple here in breaking down this game. LSU leads the nation in scoring averaging 48.9 points per game, and is fresh off of hanging 63 on Oklahoma, while Clemson is averaging 45.3 points per game.

If the averages play out, even I can do that math and the over will easily hit in this one.

Sure, this is the national championship game we’re talking about here where nerves could play a role early, but with Burrow and Lawrence leading these two offenses, it’s a no-brainer to take the over. Even if the over was closer to 75 points, I think it’s the safer bet than any bet against the spread or the dreaded under.

Clemson’s defense is far better than Oklahoma’s, in fact, it’s the best scoring defense in the nation, but it’s tough to see them completely slowing down Burrow and LSU’s extremely impressive wideouts all night. Let’s also not forget that this is practically a home game for LSU, which will certainly play a factor.

We can’t overlook the running backs on both sides of the ball in this one either. Travis Etienne and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are capable of breaking off huge gains and getting into the endzone. If the trends continue for both of these teams like we’ve seen all year, the over should hit in this one with ease.

Final score prediction: Clemson 41, LSU 40
