Fans Have Jokes After Seeing USFL Champions Celebrate With 40s Instead Of Champagne

Scooby Wright of the Birmingham Stallions celebrates the team's USFL championship.

The Birmingham Stallions won their second consecutive championship over the weekend by beating the Pittsburgh Maulers on Saturday. Instead of celebrating with bottles of champagne, the Stallions capped their USFL championship by popping 40s.

“The Champagne of Beers” was the drink of choice as Birmingham players chugged Miller High Life on the field. Fans have been quick to comment on the awesome scene on social media.

Skip Holtz’s bunch was the league’s top squad, winning each of their final five regular season games to finish 8-2. They then ripped off a pair of playoff wins over New Orleans and Pittsburgh, blowing out each by a combined score of 75-34.

It was the team’s second straight USFL championship after they finished 9-1 last year and rolled through the postseason.

Typically, we see locker room celebrations filled with champagne showers as goggle-donning players pop the bubbly. But instead of champagne, this USFL celebration consisted of Miller High Life 40s, which might mark a first in sports history.

The festivities were certainly well-deserved, and the players seemed to enjoy the beverage changeup.

Scooby Wright, in particular, was spotted slamming two at a time.

Fans were quick to offer reactions to the hilarious scene online.

One notable Barstool Sports account wrote, “The Stallions celebrating with 40’s of Miller is incredible,” while someone else posted, “It’s probably all that’s in the USFL budget.”

Another follower said, “It IS the champagne of beers, you know,” noting that it’s a perfectly suitable substitute.

This social media user commented, “Nothing but respect for these champions.”

Hopefully, this USFL celebration becomes the norm across all leagues.
