BKFC’s first marquee event of the year is set to take place on February 2nd at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida in a fight that will pin former WBA boxing champion Austin Trout against BKFC champion Luis Palomino.

We sat down with BKFC president David Feldman ahead of the event and talked about Trout-Palomino, Mike Perry’s next fight, his recent partnership with Conor McGregor, and meeting Dana White.

What does Luis Palomino need to do to get the big Mike Perry-type fight that he wants?

“He has to go in there tomorrow and fight his a– off and that’s it, and I don’t mean win, I don’t mean outbox the guy. I mean, go in there and fight his a– off and make people call me up or post on Instagram and say I want to see Luis Palomino fight Mike Perry. And guess what? I’ll give him that fight. We had a talk about it. He pulled me aside tonight and he said, Dave, I’m going to give you the best fight I’ve ever had. We get excitement out of him and people are talking. I want to give him the big fight, but after his last fight, I couldn’t warrant it. Now I think he’s going to come back and do what he has to do tomorrow.”

Austin Trout has fought some big names in boxing; by becoming a BKFC champion, do you think he’ll attract some big names to fight him in BKFC?

He absolutely could. I mean, look, he’s very integral for us as well because former two time world champion in boxing fought the biggest names in boxing. And hey, if he does good tomorrow and he does win, who knows what.

Do you have any updates on Mike Perry and when he will fight next?

“He’s going to fight in April. I’m going to announce the date in about two weeks, we got a pretty marquee opponent for him. We got two of them. We’re going back and forth right now. We’re going to make that decision hopefully by Wednesday or Thursday of this week and announce it immediately following. That will be our first show in California”

We saw you in Las Vegas recently, you met with Dana White. What was that experience like?

“Great experience. Great guy. We just talked shop a little. Really awesome guy. Definitely gave me some pointers and who knows where that’s going to go. Nothing I really want to elaborate on right now, but really awesome guy, man.”

BKFC recently signed a sponsorship deal with Conor McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout what’s that been like?

“Awesome. I mean, look, you got the biggest guy in combat sports talking about your company and promoting your company at the same time you’re promoting his product. I mean, it’s amazing. It’s unbelievable.”

What do you have in store for BKFC in 2024?

“I think we put ourselves in a really great position. I say that a lot, but we have almost 50 shows planned in nine different countries in 20 states, and we got some huge signings coming up. We got some big funding. We’re doing everything is really, really finally turning for BKF day, and I think by the end of 2024, a whole lot more people know about BKFC.
