LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis is off to the NFL. After just one season in Baton Rouge, he’s accepted a job in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.

Davis was widely considered one of the top coaches at the college ranks. Now, he’ll test out the professional waters. His departure could have an immediate impact on the recruiting trail.

The Tigers just signed a Top 10 recruiting class nationally. That included the No. 1 overall transfer class. The 2026 cycle is shaping up to provide LSU another major haul next offseason.

The Bayou Bengals are positioned well with a number of the top local prospects. Four of the state’s four-star recruits have already committed to the program. They’re the leader in the clubhouse for the No. 1 Louisianan, too.

Lamar Brown is considered the top interior offensive lineman in the ’26 class. He hasn’t made a decision on his future quite yet, but LSU has long been the frontrunner.

Bo Davis was involved in Brown’s recruitment. His departure hasn’t changed the outlook.

LSU players react to Bo Davis’s exit.

While Brown still considers the Tigers the team to beat, the move has caused some pause around Baton Rouge. Recruits will certainly take note of the coaching change, but it might affect the current roster even more.

Those who spent last season under Davis’s tutelage will be forced to learn from a new teacher. The bond previously built is now gone.

Freshman defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux appeared unhappy with the news. He posted his immediate reaction on X Thursday.

Breaux might feel as though the rug’s been pulled from under him. Just last offseason, Davis helped convince him to attend the university. A year later, he’s gone.

Bo Davis’s decision has already had an impact. The Tigers will do their best to keep their Louisiana talent on the roster and in the recruiting class. The next hire will go a long way in easing tensions. It will be interesting to see which direction LSU goes.
