Former NFL and MLB star Bo JacksonBo Jackson has been living with what sounds like an absolute nightmare for nearly a year. That health condition caused him to miss out on a recent appearance at his alma mater.

The Auburn Tigers recently unveiled a statue for former first baseman Frank Thomas, who played against Jackson in the bigs. The dual-sport athlete’s absence was noticeable.

The reason for his not being in attendance sounds both bizarre and hellish.

“I wasn’t there because of dealing with hiccups,” Jackson said while making an appearance on the McElroy and Cubelic morning show. “I’ve had the hiccups since last July,” he continued.

“I’m getting a medical procedure done at the end of this week, I think, to try to remedy it.”

Having the hiccups for even a half-hour is bad enough, but can you imagine the constant annoyance persisting over a 10-month period?

Making things worse, the running back has been in and out of doctor’s offices in hopes of finding a solution. That answer has not yet been given, though hopefully this procedure will help.

“I’ve been busy sitting at the doctor’s poking me, shining lights down my throat, probing me every way they can to find out why I’ve got these hiccups. That’s the only reason I wasn’t there.”

Football fans and followers were quick to comment on the nightmare scenario, posting their reactions on social media.

One person wrote, “I had hiccups for an hour straight and that was enough to make me contemplate if the rest of my life would be worth living. It’s easy to make jokes but that sounds like satanic torture.”

Another said, “I’d go insane if I had hiccups for a year.”

Hopefully, Bo Jackson is able to find a cure for his hiccups soon.
