Bo Nix has not had the best week in Mobile. The former Auburn and Oregon quarterback returned to Alabama for the Senior Bowl and greatly struggled during the first few days of the week.
There was an opportunity for Nix to play himself into the first round of the NFL Draft with a strong showing. Instead, his stock has plummeted.
Although one bad outing won’t crush him, Wednesday was especially rough.
Nix is the FBS’ single-season record-holder for completion percentage. That consistent ability to find his pass-catchers did not translate to practice this week. He was late to trigger and anxious as a thrower, which is a concern that showed itself on film.
His one-on-one period was fine, but not great. Nix showed his arm talent with a couple of deep balls, but he was especially late on one pass to the sideline and missed a few throws downfield by a large margin.
There was one incompletion that really stood out. It was severely under-thrown.
And things did not get much better as the day went on.
Nix was late on a wheel route during the team period that could have gone for six if it was on time. It also needed to be deeper.
There are still a few days for Nix to get it figured out. He has Thursday’s practice to turn around his week before the Senior Bowl game itself on Saturday.
It is hard to ignore the impressive things that Bo Nix was able to do during his college football career — especially with the Ducks — but there have been moments throughout that were rather cringeworthy. This time in Mobile presented him with an opportunity to quiet some of those concerns against the best of the best, but Wednesday was overwhelmingly rough.
NFL teams with their eyes set on Nix might show more pause as a result!
