Boomer Esiason and co-host Gregg Giannotti were pumped to hear that former NFL WR Randy Moss was booked for an interview on Super Bowl week. The football personality is not only one of the top performers in league history, but he’s also known to give both insightful and entertaining opinions on the sport.

Having previously worked in a broadcast role for both ESPN and FOX, Moss is no stranger to the media. It appeared he’d booked his next gig with the Boomer and Gio show as they guys previewed the upcoming appearance on the air.

A minor detail surrounding that radio spot would soon rain down on the parade.

After talking with their producer on the details of that booking, an interesting tidbit was introduced into the conversation. It immediately caused pause for Esiason and Giannotti.

“Something having to do with horse racing,” producer Al Dukes said when asked if Moss was promoting anything on this particular appearance. “He’s very into horse racing.”

There’s only one issue.

Wide receiver Randy Moss isn’t known to bet the ponies. However, the guys on set knew who did.

Esiason and Giannotti noted another Randy Moss, who happens to work in horse racing as an announcer and analyst for NBC, according to Awful Announcing.

Hilarity ensued.

The back and forth, and eventual realization of the mistake was must-see TV.

Gio: “Are you sure this is the…not the other Randy Moss?”

Dukes: “Is there another Randy Moss?”

Gio: “You booked the white Randy Moss!”

It looks like no Randy Moss will join the show as Esiason later added, “I can’t wait to hear you call them back and say, ‘We’re gonna have to cancel.'”

Boomer and Gio will have to find a new Super Bowl guest this week.
