The college football season opens for most teams in less than a week, and we’re already getting an early dose of trash talk. Miami (OH) quarterback Brett Gabbert was heard calling out the Miami Hurricanes ahead of a Week 1 showdown.

His comments have since gone viral, leading one college football fan to respond in the best possible way.

Gabbert is gearing up for his fifth season under center for the RedHawks, having appeared in 31 games since 2019. The passer has thrown for more than 6,000 yards in his college career, though he’s coming off of a shoulder injury that sidelined him for most of 2022.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Brett is the brother of current NFL quarterback Blaine Gabbert. He’s no stranger to facing Power Five opponents, having seen the likes of Ohio State, Iowa, Minnesota, and Kentucky over the last few seasons.

Unfortunately, he’s been unable to orchestrate a win over one of those top programs, but that hasn’t shot his confidence heading into his next opportunity.

The RedHawks will travel to the Sunshine State on Friday for a matchup with “The U.” Gabbert intends to show the world which school is the “Real Miami.”

During a recent meeting with the media, the signal caller previewed that matchup, predicting a Miami (OH) win.

When asked where the real Miami is located, Gabbert responded, “Oxford, Ohio.” He doubled down on that response saying, “We’ll show them September 1st.”

Social media immediate reacted to the statement, though most don’t see the RedHawks leaving Hard Rock Stadium with a victory. One Miami fan went a step further, posting a diss track shortly after the words went viral.

Miami Hurricanes fan posts ‘diss track’ after Brett Gabbert’s jab.

“I heard that quarterback Brett Gabbert has been running his mouth about our CANES, so we had to name drop in the diss track,” the caption read. “We’re gonna find out who THE REAL MIAMI is on Friday night!”

In the rap, the artist known as Coach Coop rips the RedHawks predicting a Hurricanes win “by at least three touchdowns.”

Fans and followers responded in the comments section.

Some loved the rap, with this fan writing, “I can’t cap, I love it.”

Another follower posted, “That was fire, Coop… You’ve got skills.”

Others, however, weren’t as impressed by the diss track.

This person commented, “Among the more cringeworthy things I have ever seen,” while someone else said, “Miami (OH) by 40 points after listening to this.”

It’s not the first track Coach Coop has recorded ahead of a Hurricanes matchup. In his eight previous disses, his team has gone 3-5. Not a great sign for Miami moving forward.

We’ll find out who the “Real Miami” is on September 1st.
