Brett Maher Misses A Ton Of Practice Field Goal Kicks Before Game vs Niners, Gets Pep Talk From Jerry Jones

Brett Maher missing field goals

Cowboys kicker Brett Maher might have a serious case of the yips.

Last Sunday, Maher missed four extra points in the team’s blowout win against the Bucs.

While Jones initially backed Maher and said the team wasn’t looking for any kickers, the Cowboys eventually signed a backup kicker this week.

The Cowboys have signed kicker Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad, adding a possible insurance policy in case the team wants to bring him to the game alongside Maher.

Vizcaino has been on four teams since 2020, including two different squads this season. He made two field goals and all three extra points in his one game with the Cardinals, and only handled kickoffs in a game played with the Patriots.

Before Sunday’s divisional playoff game, Maher was shaky and missed several practice kicks.

Maher eventually calmed down and made several consecutive kicks after getting a pep talk from Jones.
