Former LSU head coach Brian Kelly appears interested in the vacant FSU job.
Over the weekend, FSU fired head coach Mike Norvell after university president Richard McCullough said he made the decision because the continued losses became too much to deal with.
“It’s the legacy that we have at Florida State, and trying to get it right, and that demands excellence and a trajectory going in the right direction,” McCullough said. “I just did not see that trajectory.”
While FSU begins its search for its next head coach, Kelly, who was fired by LSU last year, confirmed his interest in potentially replacing Norvell at Florida State.
“I’ve got a great history with Florida State, great games. I know what that’s like, the history and tradition of Florida State, playing in that state, and the fan base. So anytime you have an incredibly brand driven, great tradition and history, there’s a want and desire to be part of somebody that has had that success and, certainly, leading that program, from anyone’s perspective, would be an honor and privilege.”
FSU fans were not happy with Kelly’s interest in becoming the team’s next head coach.
That’s a hard “NO” in every sense of the word.
Keep this man away from our program.
