Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports broke the news that former LSU head coach Brian Kelly is set to call College Football games for CBS this Fall, part of a three-man broadcasting team for Mountain West games. The news was immediately met with a stream of memes about Brian Kelly’s personality.
If you remember, when Brian Kelly was initially lured away from Notre Dame by LSU he showed up in Baton Rouge with an inexplicable Southern accent. Kelly was born and raised in Massachusetts, played college ball at Assumption University, and then lived/worked/coached in Michigan from 1987 to 2006 when he moved to Cincinnati for a few years before spending 11 years at Notre Dame.
That is a full 60 years of living in New England and the Great Lakes States but never in the South… Never the less, Brian Kelly pretended to have a Southern accent when he arrived at LSU as head coach in 2022 and that fake accent will now follow him forever.

As a quick reminder, the Mountain West Conference includes Air Force, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northern Illinois, San Jose State, UNLV, UTEP, and Wyoming. That will take him all throughout the Western portion of the United States and then some.

I think you get the point by now, right? According to Glasspiegel at FOS, in addition to calling Mountain West games Brian Kelly will also be an analyst on Inside College Football. After LSU paid him his full $54 million buyout, it is curious that he would immediately run back into the CFB world for another paycheck. How much is enough? Apparently not $54 million.
