Former Indiana Fever forward Brianna Turner has accused the organization of covering up a sexual harassment case while also speaking out against ex-teammate Sophie Cunningham.
Turner took to social media late Wednesday night to respond to Cunningham’s comments regarding trans athletes in women’s sports.
Cunningham previously stated in an ESPN article that she wants to “protect little girls” from “biological males” playing in female sports. She later doubled down on those comments, claiming that “I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that.
“I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
Turner, however, doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Cunningham.

“A tiny minority of the population identifies as trans, yet they are always a trending topic, unfortunately,” Turner said on X. I’m in my 8th season as a WNBA player. To date, there’s been one out trans player in the league. They caused zero problems.”
She then referenced her time playing alongside Cunningham with the Indiana Fever in 2025, and a case of sexual harassment she claims was swept under the rug.
“An issue that has caused problems though? Last year on my WNBA team, a male staff member was fired for sexual harassment, but we were encouraged to keep quiet about it,” Turner wrote. “That is an issue. Sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism are all issues.”
Turner’s comments were part of a longer thread discussing trans rights and transgender involvement in sports. They also come at a time when the WNBA is desperately trying to turn the attention back toward the on-court product ahead of this weekend’s All-Star Game in Chicago.
