Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers have 14 days between their loss to the Bengals on Sunday and their next game against the Jaguars. It’s their bye week!

Most NFL teams offer their players the chance to rest and recover away from the practice facility while they’re off. Some players get away with a trip to the Bahamas or Cancun, some players take the opportunity to lay low and enjoy a staycation.

Others use the bye week to visit their family. Or, in the case of Purdy, their future family.

Purdy, picked last in the 2022 NFL Draft, took over as the starter in San Francisco at the end of his rookie season. He started his career as QB1 at 10-0 in the regular season, but three-straight losses moved him to 10-3.

This week will allow him and his teammates to reset after a tough stretch.

Brock Purdy is still working.

Although Brock Purdy and the 49ers are not required to practice or workout on-site in Santa Clara, he is not taking the week off! The 23-year-old flew out to Sumner, Iowa to be with his fiancée and her family.

Purdy and Jenna Brandt first met at Iowa State.

She played volleyball for the Cyclones. He, of course, played quarterback.

The two hit it off in Ames and stayed together when Brandt later transferred to Northern Iowa. They got engaged back in July, as Purdy recovered from a UCL injury suffered during the NFC Championship.

Although Purdy is not from Iowa himself, he has quickly picked up on the customs. His future wife comes from a close-knit family from an agricultural background.

Purdy’s brief bye-week trip to Iowa served as an opportunity to unplug, and see his future wife and future in-laws. It was also an opportunity for the Brandt family to get some free labor.

They put their future son-in-law to work!

Harvest season is wrapping up in Iowa, so Purdy spent Thursday morning in the cab of a John Deere.

Amazing stuff. Purdy is a starting quarterback in the NFL who is spending his bye week operating heavy machinery on a farm in Iowa. That’s some serious football guy stuff!
