The Denver Broncos fired Nathaniel Hackett on Monday and are officially searching for a new head coach. All things considered, moving on from Hackett is probably for the best.
It’s unknown who Denver will target as their next coach during this time. However, things took a turn on Tuesday after Broncos’ CEO Greg Penner made an eye-opening statement.
According to Tom Pelissero, Penner claims “the next head coach will report to him, not to general manager George Paton.” Although Paton “will be intimately involved in the search,” the Broncos’ CEO is stepping in and making his presence known.

For that reason, many fans are unsure about what to expect this offseason. Are coaching candidates going to like the idea of reporting directly to the CEO? What does this mean for George Paton’s job security? A ton of questions have come up that have Broncos fans wondering what’s going on in Denver.
Yea that’s a real attractive job opportunity….

Broncos fans are split about George Paton.
So the guy who was responsible for giving that contract to Wilson and trading for him is still allowed to stay? Makes no sense

There is certainly a case to be made for this opinion.
Least attractive job in the NFL

Look for the Broncos to heavily recruit head coaches once the season comes to an end. There is a ton of buzz about the potential for Sean Payton to come out of retirement to coach Denver. Even so, this franchise needs to get things straight before they make a big hire like that.
