Just when we didn’t think the Cleveland Browns could be more Browns-like after breaking their losing streak with a tie against the Steelers in week one of the NFL season, they go and do just about the most Browns thing imaginable on Sunday versus the New Orleans Saints.

In case you somehow missed it, the Browns had a chance to win the game in regulation if their kicker Zane Gonzalez could do the simplest thing: make an extra point. Of course, he shanked it, because, Browns. Of course, that kick wouldn’t have mattered if he hadn’t missed a 44-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Or missed ANOTHER extra point earlier in the third quarter.

Gonzalez was given a chance at redemption with a 52-yard field goal attempt that would have sent the game into overtime, but, you know, Browns.

So, in total, the Browns kicker could have scored eight more points than he did in Cleveland’s 21-18 loss.

Now if that reaction on Gonzalez’s face in the photo above after his first fourth quarter field goal miss looks very familiar to NFL fans and Brown’s fans in particular, there’s good reason for it.

No one on the Browns should ever wear the number two again.

As one would expect, this turn of events on Sunday did not please Browns fans.

One guy even went out to a local football field, barefoot, and kicked an extra point, on his first try to show Gonzalez how it’s done.

Annnnd, of course, Browns fans also took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with Zane Gonzalez’s performance. Unfortunately, for many, they were harassing the wrong guy (something sports fans do on the regular).

Once the error was realized, at least by some, they decided to have a little fun with it.

On the bright side, at least the Browns didn’t traded two sixth-round picks to move up to the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft so they could take Daniel Carlson.
