  • Many fans believe it signals good news in the Deshaun Watson case
  • The NFL has said Watson’s recent settlements won’t affect his potential suspension

The Cleveland Browns are always searching for good news. That’s certainly been the case this offseason after the franchise signed legally troubled quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson is in the midst of a sexual misconduct investigation that includes both civil cases and a potential suspension from the NFL. With the uncertainty under center, many have no idea what to expect from the team this season.

The passer is set to supplant Baker Mayfield as the starter in Cleveland, but with an NFL investigation still pending, no one knows how much he’ll see the field in 2022.

Reports have surfaced of a “substantial” punishment from the NFL, though the NFLPA is set to defend their client should they deem it too harsh.

Watson’s case took another turn on Tuesday as it was revealed that 20 of his 24 pending cases had been settled out of court. Those cases have now been dismissed, which is good for his legal battle, but we’re not quite sure how it will affect his NFL future.

A recent change in Vegas odds, though, has Browns fans hopeful.

Cleveland Browns’ Super Bowl odds improve following Deshaun Watson settlements

The Browns saw their Super Bowl odds increase following the news of Deshaun Watson’s settlements. They’ve improved from a 25/1 shot to now being viewed as a 20/1 contender. They have 10/1 odds to win the AFC, too.

Many believe that the sportsbooks know something regarding Watson’s potential suspension. A shorter absence would certainly improve their Super Bowl chances as he’s surely a better option than backup Jacoby Brissett.

Of course, the lines could’ve moved simply because more money is being put on the Browns following this news.

The NFL has come out and said that the settlements will have no effect on a potential suspension, so it doesn’t seem that the quarterback is in the clear yet.

Browns fans will continue to be hopeful, though.
