Bryce Harper is, arguably, the most coveted free agent in baseball. A once-in-a-generation talent, the outfielder and former NL MVP is young, he’s talented, he’s not even hit his peak yet and teams are trying to find the right amount of money to throw his way to get him to join their franchise.

While we’ve been waiting for-ev-er to hear any updates about where Bryce Harper may be continuing his MLB career, there was an interesting tweet from a video game, MLB The Show, that hit social media yesterday; and it’s causing quite the stir. That’s because, as the Internet often does, people are taking the tweet quite seriously, with fans on Twitter believing that Harper’s joining the Philadelphia Phillies because of the content of the MLB The Show message. Take a look below at some of the tweets.

OK, OK, so MLB The Show clearly got the attention of people with the cryptic tweet, but does that really mean there’s something big happening today? Or, even crazier, is Bryce Harper set to announce he’s joining the Phillies with a trailer for a video game? Uh… just look at the reaction the All-Star slugger tweeted out in response to the MLB The Show message.

It’s one thing to see something teasing the Phillies from a video game, but it’s something entirely different when the player himself replies with something even more cryptic. And, because Bryce Harper knows how to stir the pot to all this speculation, here were some of the Twitter reactions to what he put out there for millions to see. Needless to say, Philadelphia Phillies fans were pumped.

After seeing The Decision back in 2010 when LeBron James announced that he was going to “take his talents to South Beach and play for the Miami Heat,” and then returned to Cleveland in 2014 by writing an op-ed with Sports Illustrated to announce that decision, I’m no longer surprised with how megastars deliver their free-agent decisions. I mean, it’s 2019, so gone are the days of an athlete simply showing up at a team’s facility and having a press conference to sign. These days, it’s all about the hype and production — so, who knows, maybe all this Bryce Harper stuff with MLB The Show is more than just a tease.

One thing’s for sure, you might want to keep an eye on the Twitter accounts of MLB The Show and Bryce Harper today, I know I’ll be.
