Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has reportedly scored a remarkable 98 on the S2 cognitive test, a test which Panthers owner David Tepper puts a lot of stock in.

The test, which measures an athlete’s cognitive skill set and decision-making process, has become a significant factor in the NFL draft process.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Young’s score puts him ahead of other highly rated quarterbacks such as Josh Allen of the Bills, Joe Burrow of the Bengals, and Justin Fields of the Bears.

This news has only increased Young’s standing as the top choice for the Panthers, who traded up with the Bears to secure the first overall pick in the upcoming 2023 Draft.

Young’s performance on the S2 test is significant because it measures nine different cognitive skills that are crucial for quarterbacks to possess. Young’s impressive score indicates that he excels in these areas and is well-equipped to make sound decisions on the field.

With the draft just weeks away, Young appears to have held off other prospects such as Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud to secure the top spot. The likely selection will probably annoy some NFL teams, as many of them were hoping to draft Young themselves, such as the Houston Texans.

Waste Of Time

In a recent appearance on NFL Live, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that Young visiting the Texans, who hold the second overall pick, would be a “waste of time”.

According to Schefter, the ship has sailed, and it is widely believed that Young will be the first player off the board come draft day.

Young’s success on the field has been well-documented. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2021 while playing for Alabama and led the Crimson Tide to a national championship in 2020. With his outstanding performance on the S2 test, it seems that Young is poised to continue his success at the next level.

As the draft approaches, all eyes will be on Young as he prepares to take the league by storm. With his impressive cognitive skills and proven track record of success, he appears to be the perfect candidate for the Panthers and the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.
