Seahawks NT Byron Murphy has impressive film taste
If you’re unfamiliar with Letterboxd, it’s a social media app that allows users to log, rate, and review movies they’ve seen. One of the app’s main features is its Top 4 Favorites, which allows users to display their top four favorite movies of all-time on their profile.
In a slick piece of branding and content, Letterboxd now has a social media video series in which they ask actors, writers, and directors what their top four favorite movies are. Occasionally, Letterboxd will also interview athletes, with the latest edition taking place at the Seattle Seahawks training camp ahead of their season-opener against the New England Patriots.

Most athlete-focused Letterboxd top four videos are hilariously similar, with many picking movies like Avengers: Endgame, Remember the Titans, Real Steel, and Step Brothers.
In comes Seattle Seahawks nose tackle Byron Murphy, who not only revealed a top four favorite films that display impressive taste for an athlete, but one that would even impress the most hardcore cinephiles.

Murphy’s picks were: Imitation of Life, a romance from 1959; Flowers in the Attic, a 1987 horror film; American Gangster, Ridley Scott’s 2007 crime epic; and Rosewood, a 1997 historical drama.
Given how unique and ecletic Murphy’s picks were, the moment went viral on social media and earned the 24-year-old defensive lineman a bevy of new fans.

“Byron Murphy you have a fan for life,” a second added.
“Byron Murphy oh my god man you are my new favorite player and it isn’t close,” a third declared.

Murphy and the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will begin their season with the opening matchup of the 2026 campaign when they host the New England Patriots on Wednesday, September 9, at 8:20 p.m. EST.
