Iowa QB Cade McNamara made a hilariously lewd statement during his pregame press conference this week, leading to a quick pause from the passer. The accidental slip is now going viral online.

While previewing a matchup against Western Michigan on Tuesday, McNamara got caught on his words discussing what he expects to see from the defense.

“I think the level of communication up front, with me, the backs, and really everyone just being on the same page [will be key] because we know these guys are going to come… a lot.”

McNamara caught himself, taking a moment to pause and laugh it off before continuing on with his offensive outlook. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get the slip completely out of his mind.

After picking things back up, he again burst out in laughter, unable to finish his next thought.

“I mean, we’ve got to be on cue with our hots, we’ve got to be on cue with our protections,” he continued before having to stop once again. “Dammit, that was unexpected.”

McNamara is in his first season with the Hawkeyes after transferring from Big Ten rival Michigan. With the Wolverines, the quarterback completed 63% of his passes with 21 touchdowns over 21 games.

In two starts with Iowa, McNamara’s managed 314 yards through the air and a pair of scores.

The passer’s led his team to a 2-0 start, taking down Utah State in the season opener before beating instate rival Iowa State last week. He’ll look to keep the Hawkeyes’ record unblemished this Saturday vs. WMU.

McNamara’s hilarious press conference pause certainly gave fans a light-hearted lead-in to the upcoming contest.
