Caitlin Clark Nike Deal Causes Controversy Surrounding WNBA Superstar A’Ja Wilson Not Having One

After reports that WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark is reportedly nearing an eight-figure deal with Nike for her own signature shoe, fans have one big question.

Clark joins Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Ellena Delle Donne as current WNBA players with their own shoe.

Noticeably absent from the list, however, is Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson.

Wilson is a two-time WNBA MVP, two-time WNBA champion, five-time WNBA All-Star and the reigning finals MVP. So when news of Clark’s deal emerged, many fans were wondering why Wilson still does not have a deal.

Even Las Vegas Aces teammate Sydney Colson didn’t understand.

And Wilson took to Twitter as well to display both her confusion and frustration with the situation.

The good news is that it appears an A’Ja Wilson signature shoe is not far away.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been told A’ja has a shoe coming from folks at Nike multiple times. But when I ask for a timetable, there’s never one. Just promises that it’s happening. To be clear, I don’t think that’s good enough anymore” Mike Sykes of For The Win reports.

Wilson is perhaps the league’s biggest star. So it’s a bit odd for her not to have a shoe when several others do. But make no mistake, she’s not jealous of Clark, Ionescu, Stewart or Delle Donne.

lol no one is jealous bookie! I have no reason to be lol I truly Wish all 143 the best fr ! Our league is hard as hell so to thrive and to stay in it consistently.. is huge! So pls stop with this jealousy stuff,” she tweeted in response to someone accusing her of jealousy.

Wilson, Clark, Ionescu and Delle Donne are all contracted to Nike. While Stewart is signed to PUMA. So it’s not a matter of brand, either.

It just appears Nike has dropped the ball in a major way.
