Caitlin Clark apparently does not want to get involved in the conversation about trans athletes in women’s sports.
Last week, Clark’s teammate Sophie Cunningham went viral when she said she didn’t want youth trans athletes participating in women’s sports.
“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,’” she says. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
On Sunday, Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve voiced her disagreement with Cunningham’s comments before her team’s game against Cunningham and the Fever.
“I come from a space of inclusion. And the narrative that I think that is problematic is to suggest that, number one, that transgender athletes are the biggest problem in women’s sports. And I think this is what’s bothersome is that there’s a faction of people in our country that are making this a massive issue.”
Reeve went on to wear a “trans kids belong” shirt to protest Cunningham’s comments.

After the Fever-Lynx game, Clark was asked her thoughts on Cunningham’s comments, and refused to give an opinion on youth trans athletes in women’s sports.
“It’s not really a discussion we have in the locker room
“It’s for the leagues and governing bodies to work with their athletes to find solutions.”
