Gurang-Gurang Macham is the kicker for St. Bernard High School Vikings in Playa del Rey, California. Standing at 6-foot-9, he also might be the tallest high school football player in the country.
Macham is from Sudan and weighs 200 pounds. According to the New York Post, the senior also plays basketball, of course, but this season he decided to take his talents to the high school football field as well.
So far, he has played four games and is 11-for-19 (.579) in kicking field goals.
His Vikings have also defeated Los Amigos, Westchester, Wilson, and Beverly Hills to start the season 4-0. The first league encounter of the season will take place as St. Bernard travels to Bosco Tech for their next game.

How does Gurang-Gurang Macham compare to other very tall football players?
While Gurang-Gurang Macham towers over most of his teammates and opponents, he isn’t the tallest player to ever play football. According to Pro Football Reference, Richard Sligh, who played for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL), was 7-feet-tall.
Sligh graduated from Gallman High School in Newberry, South Carolina and played college football at North Carolina Central University. The Raiders selected him 253rd overall in the 10th round of the 1967 NFL/AFL draft as a defensive tackle. He played in eight games in the 1967 season, then retired.
Morris Stroud, at 6-foot-10, was the second tallest player in the history of the NFL. He played tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1969 to 1974. Stroud played in 69 games and caught 54 passes for 977 yards and seven touchdowns.
Dan Skipper, currently an offensive assistant for the Detroit Lions, was also 6-foot-10 during his NFL career, which spanned 2017 to 2025. He played offensive tackle for the Lions, Broncos, Patriots, Texans, Raiders, and Colts.
The tallest kicker in NFL history is Neil O’Donoghue at 6-foot-6. O’Donoghue played from 1977 to 1985 with the Bills, Buccaneers, and Rams.
