Former MVP passer Cam Newton has broken his silence on a recent incident that occurred at a youth football camp. The QB showed remorse for his role in the altercation, apologizing to those he let down.

Newton was involved in a brawl with coaches at a 7 vs. 7 event in Atlanta, going toe-to-toe with a group called the TSP Crew.

It’s not known exactly what prompted the brawl, though video footage posted to social media does show the Top Shelf Performance coaches talking trash about Newton beforehand.

Those on the other end blamed the quarterback for igniting the explosion.

Via Fox News Digital:

“I’m walking through the parking lot, walking to the field. Cam jumps out of his car and yells, ‘Hey, all that sorry s— ain’t gonna work today. What we betting today?… I’m like, ‘I ain’t betting you, bro. I already beat you three, four times…’ He like, ‘I got plenty of money. I ain’t ever running out of money.’ That’s when I told him, ‘That’s your problem. All you care about is money… You can’t buy me.’ And I walk off.

“It’s probably three minutes into the game, he’s sitting up top with all his kids yelling down on us. ‘Hey, I know that play. That’s my stuff. I taught y’all everything y’all know. I’m y’all daddy. I made y’all.’

“This is typical Cam Newton behavior on the 7-on-7 scene.”

Cam Newton gave his side of the story on social media.

The signal caller opened up on the situation in a video posted online. Though he didn’t indulge on the leadup of the fight, he took responsibility for his involvement.

“No excuses,” a caption read with a link to his YouTube account.

“I think about the kids who look up to me… I feel like I let them down. I can’t sit up here and say, ‘Hey, you’ve gotta be bigger than that,’ then all of a sudden, I do that.

“That just goes to show you, you’ve gotta always stay in control of your emotions… There’s no excuse.”
