Infamous, Dormant ‘Capt. Andrew Luck’ Twitter Account Responds To QB Acknowledging Its Existence In First NFL Appearance In Years

On Thursday Night Football, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck — who recently made a quiet return to football as a coach at Palo Alto High School — made his first public appearance with the NFL in years.

And despite the fact that he played in the NFL for seven seasons, Luck displayed more personality during his Thursday Night Football appearance than he did during the entirety of his career, as he came dressed as “Captain Andrew Luck”.

The now 34-year-old Luck is clearly in high spirits these days, as he hilariously stated that he’s been “great” because “the war is over.”

Given that it’s now been four years since Luck retired, here’s a bit of a refresher: Capt. Andrew Luck was a parody Twitter account that imagined the former Pro Bowler as a member of the Armed Forces in the Civil War.

The tweets would always start as if they were a letter sent home to his mother: “Dearest Mother,” he’d begin.

For whatever reason — likely because it was genuinely and organically hilarious — Capt. Andrew Luck became a phenomenon, as the account racked up over 400,000 followers and was featured on the likes of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown and in Sports Illustrated.

Ever since Luck retired, though, the account has been largely dormant. Since Luck retired in 2019, the account has posted just four times: twice in 2020 and twice back in May.

On Friday morning, though, Capt. Andrew Luck returned to give his mother, and us, an update from the front lines.

In late 2022, Luck opened up about his decision to retire at the age of 29 years old, saying that not only were the injuries frustrating as a professional, but they were putting a strain on his personal life and turning him into someone that he didn’t like.
