Matt Ammendola took a chunk of the blame in the Cardinals’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after he missed the game-tying FG as time expired. The unsuccessful attempt sealed Arizona’s fate in a 20-17 defeat.

It was a game that saw some inconsistencies from the Arizona team. The Cards fell behind 14-0 quickly with Kyler Murray throwing a pick on his first pass of the game.

The team finally found a rhythm in the second quarter, scoring the final 10 points before halftime to close the gap. They then battled in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 17-17 following a 90-yard drive.

Philly would go back up by a field goal late, but the Cardinals had an opportunity to send it to overtime as the final seconds ticked away from the clock.

Unfortunately, Ammendola’s kick sailed wide.

Reporters lined up at the kicker’s locker following the loss, which offensive lineman Justin Pugh took offense to.

The media surrounded Matt Ammedola’s locker after the game, waiting in a circle to get a comment on the missed field goal. Teammate Justin Pugh took that opportunity to blast the media for singling out the kicker.

Check out Pugh’s NSFW rant below.

“It’s not one f—ing guy. I missed a block, we missed touchdowns, we should’ve had the ball and been able to score. It’s not on one f—ing guy. Everybody’s waiting around for one guy to come back here. This f—ing ain’t right. It’s not right. It’s not on one f—ing guy. Now, get your f—ing head up, we’re going to win games.”

Have to love hearing that if you’re a Cardinals’ fan, and even more so if you’re a teammate.

Ammendola’s kick is what’s remembered from the loss, but as Pugh mentioned, there were other aspects of the game where the team could’ve performed better.

Good to hear his teammates taking accountability and picking him up following the deflating defeat. He could easily be the hero next week.
