Melo Named Conference Player Of The Week As NBA Apparently Forgot Luka Doncic And James Harden Exist

Carmelo Anthony was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the first time since March of 2014. He averaged 22.3 points, 7.7 boards and 2.7 assists as Portland posted a 3-0 record last week.

That’s all fine and dandy, and good for Melo, but the NBA giving him those honors over Luka Doncic is just flat-out disrespectful. I’m not totally convinced that an intern at the NBA was given the job of picking this week’s best player in each conference and they legitimately forgot that Doncic exists.

Doncic averaged 30.3 points, 9.0 assists and 8.6 rebounds, which last time I checked is a much stronger stat-line than Melo’s. Perhaps the NBA only took into consideration players who’s teams went unbeaten during the week, which would eliminate Doncic from the running as Dallas went 2-1. Then again, one of those wins came against LeBron and the Lakers.

There was also a player in Houston named James Harden that scored 60 points on Saturday, but seeing as how the Rockets went just 2-0 on the week the league couldn’t give him the honor either, perhaps.

I’m not trying to take anything away from Anthony, what he’s done since returning to the league is special, but he wasn’t the best player in the Western Conference this past week, not even close, really.

Folks on Twitter were quick to call out the league for this stunt.
