Carson Beck is the most polarizing quarterback in the NFL through the first few days of training camp. The third-round rookie has received just as much criticism as praise during his time with the Arizona Cardinals.
It depends on the specific drill on the specific day.
There will always be a learning curve in the NFL. Fortunately, the former Georgia and Miami signal-caller is not in any rush.
Carson Beck had a disastrous start to training camp.
The Cardinals got training camp underway at the beginning of the week. They were one of the first NFL teams to get back on the gridiron ahead of the 2026 regular season because of their schedule. Arizona begins the preseason against Carolina in the Hall of Fame Game next Thursday. Everybody else will not play until August 13.
We will likely see a lot of Carson Beck during the first televised professional football game of the season. Jacoby Brissett is a 33-year-old veteran. Gardner Minshew is coming back from an injury. Kedon Slovis and the rookie will get the majority of snaps.
In the meantime, Beck is working mostly with the third team at training camp. He was horrendous during the first few days.
The 24-year-old did not connect on a single pass that was more than five yards down field.

His timing was off.
The timing with Carson Beck just isn’t there right now

Missed badly on a fly route. Thrown a couple quick timing routes well off the receiver, like this slant behind (even though it was caught)

The offensive line did not do him any favors.
Carson Beck has not been impressive when I’ve seen him, but this backup OL is gonna get him killed

And then the tide began to turn.
The Arizona Cardinals’ rookie quarterback is slowly coming into his own.
Carson Beck started to look once the pads went on Tuesday. Head coach Mike LaFleur said he is “not making bad plays worse,” which is a great start. He finally started to connect on the deep ball.
One of the BEST Carson Beck throws I’ve seen all Training Camp! 🔥

His two-minute drill got everybody talking.
Beck was firing on all cylinders on the final offensive drive of the day.

Seeing that the Arizona Cardinals’ top two quarterbacks, Minshew and Brissett, have a combined record of 37-75 as NFL starters, the organization might decide to test things out in the late season if they do not win games. Don’t be surprised if Carson Beck gets an opportunity to start in November or December. What is there to lose? Especially if he continues to improve.
