Saturday’s college basketball game between San Diego and Arizona State came down to the final 30 seconds. Unfortunately, everybody watching at home was unable to see how the cheekiest play of the year sealed the win for the Toreros during an exhilarating finish.

CBS’ broadcast completely failed.

San Diego held possession with a two-point lead and 27 seconds left. Kevin Patton Jr. was in charge of getting the ball in bounds.

In that moment, CBS’ college basketball feed completely glitched. Hard.

SMPTE color bars eventually took place of the game.

Meanwhile, the audio initially cut out. It later returned right as the announcers were going wild.

And then the video broadcast returned to show that the Toreros were up by four. Nobody knew how it got to that point!

Every single person watching CBS Sports Network wondered together.

Fortunately, the replay showed what happened. Patton threw the ball off of the back of an unsuspecting Sun Devils defender, grabbed his own pass and led the fast break that ultimately resulted in points.

Nobody was able to watch one of the most exhilarating college basketball finishes of the entire season thus far. Technological glitches happen. For the feed to go down in such a crucial moment was brutal.

Everything about the fail could not have been funnier, though. A giant yellow box turned to SMPTE bars as the audio made it sound like there was something absolutely insane taking place on the court.

Sure enough, they were going insane for a reason! Patton’s heads-up play led his team to an upset victory that nobody but the limited crowd in San Diego was able to watch live. Gamblers everywhere must have been SWEATING the entire time. It also could not have gone over well with the fans who were invested in the game!
