Former NFL wide receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson disclosed that before his career in professional football, he worked as an exotic dancer under the stage name “Twix.”

Johnson, a prominent figure in the NFL during the 2000s, was celebrated for his entertaining persona as much as his athletic ability.

Johnson shared about his unexpected past during an Instagram Live session.

During the Instagram Live session, Johnson recounted his time in Los Angeles in 1997 when he was just 19 years old. Struggling to pay his bills, he resorted to exotic dancing to supplement his income.

Johnson candidly shared that he used to perform at ‘The Right Track,’ earning as much as $2,500 to $3,000 per night. He humorously noted that his success was partly due to dancing for “Big women” who tipped generously.

His stage name, “Twix,” was inspired by his slender frame and prominent veins, which resembled the popular candy bar.

Despite his fame and fortune, Chad has always been frugal with his earnings.

Johnson revealed that he saved nearly 80% of his substantial $48.8 million earnings over his 11-year NFL career, employing cost-cutting measures such as living at the Bengals Paul Brown Stadium, buying imitation jewelry, and opting for budget-friendly flights on Spirit Airlines.

The revelation about his past sparked a mix of reactions from fans, some expressed understanding and empathy for the financial struggles that led Johnson to his unconventional job, while others found it hard to believe him.

Johnson did have previous discussions about his exotic dancer past, including in a 2018 appearance on Barstool Sports confirmed the authenticity of his story.

While Chad’s story is a bit hard to believe, it’s completely possible, and sheds light on the diverse paths some people take before finding their natural path in life.
