Hype is building around the Los Angeles Chargers again as the franchise is hopeful Justin Herbert will have a bounce back back season in 2023.

He’s the same superstar quarterback he’s been since his rookie year, but this time around, Herbert’s playing under a brand new contract extension.

But a different level of excitement is generating out of the Chargers camp, as everyone is loving the changes Kellen Moore is making as offensive coordinator.

The previous offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi utilized more check down passes than not. Which is a bold choice considering Herbert has one of the best arms in the league.

But bringing in Kellen Moore seems to have opened up the offense in more ways than one.

According to Pro Football Talk, Keenan Allen is as excited as ever with Moore calling plays. In fact, the veteran wide receiver claims he’s being used all over the field in the Chargers’ new look offense.

“With Lombardi, I was stuck at the slot the whole time. I’m inside and outside now, we’re all kinda inside and outside now, playing everything.”

Just that minor detail is enough to believe the Chargers will be a lot more electric on offense this year, which is great news for Justin Herbert.

Even head coach Brandon Staley is over the moon with what he’s seeing from the offense. Here him talk about Justin Herbert and Kellen Moore during his sit down interview with Kay Adams on Up and Adams.

You can hear it in his voice. There’s a different kind of buzz humming in training camp this offseason.

And if you’re still skeptical somehow, listen to Field Yates compare Joe Lombardi’s offense to Kellen Moore’s from the 2022 season. Based on this breakdown, Justin Herbert could be in for an MVP-like year.

Los Angeles is one of those teams that always seems to be good in the regular season but fall apart when it matters most.

With Kellen Moore calling plays at offensive coordinator, perhaps the franchise can finally turn things around in the postseason.

At the very least, Justin Herbert is in the perfect situation bounce back from his poor season. If he can, the Chargers could be a real problem in the AFC West.
