This NFL offseason has been loaded with huge contracts for NFL quarterbacks.

Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts took the top 2 spots in yearly salary for QBs in NFL history.

Derek Carr landed a deal worth $37.5 million per year.

Daniel Jones got $40 million per year from the Giants.

Now a new quarterback has broken the record for yearly money for the 3rd time this offseason.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Justin Herbert signed a 5-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers that will pay him $262.5 million.

The contract is just enough to beat Lamar Jackson for the 2nd most total money on a quarterback’s contract and for the highest yearly salary in NFL history.

Herbert has definitely earned himself a nice raise over the first 3 years of his career.

In just the 2nd season of his NFL career, Herbert put himself in the MVP conversation with an impressive 5014 yards and 38 touchdowns.

His numbers came down in year 3, but he still had a very strong 4739 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also led the Los Angeles Chargers to the playoffs in spite of his numbers coming down in 2022.

Still, Herbert’s record shouldn’t stand for long.

Now that Herbert has his contract, it should only be a matter of time until Joe Burrow agrees to something with the Cincinnati Bengals and that deal should be even bigger.

Burrow has already led the Bengals to a pair of AFC title games and a Super Bowl.

There is also the possibility that Patrick Mahomes could renegotiate his deal with the Chiefs to retake the top spot.

For now, though, Justin Herbert is officially the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback.
