The Inside the NBA studio show on TNT is just the gift that keeps on giving.

Thursday night, Charles Barkley, while analyzing Zion Williamson’s injury, got up from his seat at the big desk and demonstrated the proper way to fall, complete with slow-motion replay.

“We did see Zion Williamson leave this game,” Ernie Johnson began the discussion innocently enough. “Waiting on word from Chris Haynes on exactly the extent of the injury, but you see on this play he goes to the floor and then looking at that left wrist.”

“Do not catch yourself, man,” Charles Barkley then jumped in. “I hate when players do that. Fall on your a– or something.”

“You’re not a stuntman. Why are you acting like…” Kenny Smith chided Chuck.

“Actually we did practice that while I was playing for the Sixers,” Barkley replied, looking deadly serious.

“You didn’t actually do that!” Smith shot back with a look of disbelief.

“Show us,” Shaq then interjected. “Show me right now. Fall on your a– right now.”

So he did. And it was amazing.

So now, as one astute Inside the NBA viewer reminded the crew…

Yes. Yes he did. Let’s head back to December of 2019, shall we?

The reason for Barkley trying to teach Zion Williamson how to walk back then was because the top overall draft pick that year was still out with a knee injury suffered 10 months earlier in a game against North Carolina while still in college.

ESPN reported at that time that “Williamson, 19, said the Pelicans are also trying to teach him how to walk and run differently — working on the kinetic chain of his body.”

Apparently, the Pelicans left out the part on how to properly fall on a basketball court.

Thankfully, Williamson was able to return to Thursday’s game to score 23 points in the second half, so he’s good to go.

Charles Barkley’s next lesson for Zion Williamson? Perhaps it will be how to avoid chicken wings that are thrown on to the court.
