Charles Barkley is sick and tired of talking about the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, he’s so sick of talking about the Lakers, he’s pledging not to say the word ‘Lakers’ for the rest of the season.

During TNT’s halftime coverage of the Lakers-Clippers matchup on Thursday, Ernie Johnson teased Barkley asking him who was playing in the game, which is when Chuck declared he wouldn’t be calling the Lakers the Lakers anymore.

Barkley’s new name for the Lakers? The losers, or the damn losers, to be exact.

“I’m not talking about them,” Barkley said. “For the rest of the season, I am not talking about these damn losers. Between the nitwits at TNT and the nitwits who are at ESPN, we talk about these losers more than any people in the world.”

The only way the word ‘Lakers’ is re-entering Barkley’s vocabulary is if they go out and win a playoff game.

Barkley would’ve looked a little foolish if the Lakers went out and beat the Clippers on Thursday night, but that didn’t happen. The Clippers eviscerated the Lakers by 21 points handing the team its fourth straight loss.

The Lakers, or losers, now sit at 27-35 on the year sitting not so comfortably in the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference. Los Angeles only has a one-game advantage over the 10-seed Pelicans and a two-game edge over the 11-seed Trail Blazers. If the Lakers were to drop out of the Top 10 in the West, they’d miss out on the play-in tournament for the postseason.
