Chennedy Carter is back in the WNBA after getting blackballed for poor behavior. The 27-year-old was forced to play the 2025 season in foreign countries because she bullied Caitlin Clark.
Her hot start to 2026 proves the absence had nothing to do with her talent.
WNBA teams were not willing to sign Carter because of her behavior. She is already proving them wrong.
Chennedy Carter was blackedballed by the WNBA because of Caitlin Clark.
It is not a secret that Caitlin Clark is the biggest star in women’s basketball history. Not just present day, but all-time. She is the face of the league as the most popular player. It is not up for debate.
Therefore, you cannot mess with her. Any such altercations will be over-scrutinized and blown way out of proportion by the media. They might also be used to support a specific agenda. Just don’t do it.
Chennedy Carter either did not get that memo or simply did not care. The former No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft clobbered the Rookie of the Year with a nasty cheap shot in 2024 and later doubled down by calling out her boyfriend. She stayed dirty in August when she committed an ugly flagrant foul on her former teammate. All of this was after she got suspended by the Atlanta Dream in 2021 for “conduct detrimental to the team” after she nearly came to blows with her teammate.
Needless to say, behavior is an issue for Carter. And the incident with Clark was the straw that broke the camel’s back. WNBA teams decided not to sign her as a free agent in 2025. She did not play in the U.S.
Carter became a star in China during the offseason. Her fame was of equal or greater status during her one-year stint with the Adelitas de Chihuaha of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional in Mexico but the WNBA still did not want her. No team was willing to sign Caitlin Clark’s bully for 2025.
The Las Vegas Aces are on a roll.
Now, more than a year removed from the collision with Clark, Chennedy Carter is back. The Las Vegas Aces signed her to a training camp contract at the beginning of April. It later turned into a full-time deal.
The 5-foot-9 point guard scored 10 points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 19 minutes during her return to the NBA on May 9. Her last two games have been incredible.
Carter scored a team-high 22 points in a win over the Sparks on May 10.

Head coach Becky Hammon is allowing Carter to be Carter while also keeping her within the system.

The rest of the league was not willing to touch Catilin Clark’s bully because of her history of poor behavior. The Las Vegas Aces brought Chennedy Carter back. She is balling. It was a great signing.
