There was no team in the NFL that kept themselves as busy as the Chicago Bears at the trade deadline. The Bears shipped off two key defensive pieces before the deadline, sending Robert Quinn to the Eagles and then trading Roquan Smith to Ravens. Then they brought in Chase Claypool from the Steelers to give Justin Fields another talented target.

It seems that not everybody on the team was particularly thrilled with the team’s recent activity. Star cornerback Eddie Jackson revealed today that he wasn’t happy with the moves the team made as it made him question whether the front office’s goals are the same as the players’.

Your thoughts start to go through your head like, ‘What are we playing for?’. Is their vision (in the front office) still the same as the players? We’re trying to make it to a Super Bowl, get to the playoffs, things like that. Like I said, I’m not upstairs. I get it. I understand it. But it just hits different.

Especially to the young guys, they’re looking at us like, ‘Yo, is this normal? (Does) this happen?’ But this is the type of stuff that goes on. So we just got to rally around each other, and the older guys got to step up.

This is just the unfortunately reality for players on teams that aren’t all that good. There are going to be some trade deadlines where the team shifts their focus to getting the best pick possible in the next draft and adding pieces for the future.

The Bears just seem to be in that position a lot lately.
