The Chicago Blackhawks have had quite the run over the past fifteen years with stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews as faces of the franchise. They’ve won three Stanley Cups with those two stars, and have long been a factor in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

But, earlier this year, Patrick Kane moved on when he was traded to the New York Rangers. And now, his sidekick Jonathan Toews is going to be moving on as well.

Jonathan Toews hasn’t been the same level of player he was in the past for quite some time now. The center hasn’t had 60 points in a season since 2019-2020. The former star missed the entire 2020-2021 season with what was described as a chronic immune response syndrome. Later on, it was revealed he was suffering from long COVID. So, it’s no surprise that after sixteen seasons, the Blackhawks feel like it isn’t in anyone’s best interests

Still, NHL and Blackhawks fans are sad at the news that Jonathan Toews is playing his last game as a Blackhawk tonight.

Jonathan Toews and the Blackhawks take on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at the United Center.
