It has been more than a year since Chicago Bulls fans have seen Lonzo Ball suit up for their team.

Since then, he has ben recovering from a meniscus tear.

At the time he was injured, Ball was only expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks after undergoing surgery to fix the injury. Unfortunately, he ended up experiencing pain in the knee during his rehab and was later shut down for the season.

Fans had hoped that they might see him back in the lineup early in the year considering the original timeline that was given for his return, but the season is now more than halfway over and there still hasn’t been a timeline for his comeback.

Today, head coach Billy Donovan still didn’t have an answer for when Ball would be back, but he did reveals that the team could meet with the medical staff during the All-Star break and make a decision on whether or not Ball will appear at all this season.

It’s a very concerning update. Ball was supposed to miss 6 to 8 weeks and the Bulls are now talking about him missing a year and a half without ever giving much of an update on why he still isn’t able to play.

At this point in the year, the conversation won’t just come down to Ball’s health, but also how much is actually worth risking him aggravating the injury.

The Bulls are currently 1 spot out of the playoffs with a 22-26 record. Even if Ball is able to get back to 100%, this team doesn’t look like one that will make a deep run in the playoffs.

Lonzo is still under contract with the Chicago Bulls for another year and has a player option for the season after that, so the Bulls’ focus right now should be on making sure he recovers and is able to be a contributor for them in the future.
