The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for another Super Bowl run next season. However, it’s unclear who the top pass option is outside of Travis Kelce.

Even so, it sure sounds like the coaching staff believes Kadarius Toney can be that guy.

According to Kevin Patra, the Chiefs believe Toney can become the superstar wide receiver to replace Tyreek Hill.

Here is general manager Brett Veach talking about Toney’s past roles.

“He’s predominately been a guy that is a slot receiver, returner, runner — a gadget guy, if you will — but I don’t know if there is a limit on his game because he has a vertical game. I don’t know if [his collegiate team at Florida was] one that vertically pushed the ball down the field, and his time early on in New York, I don’t know if they were a team that really vertically pushed the ball down the field.”

The Chiefs barely used Kadarius Toney last season, but to be fair, he was a midseason acquisition.

Regardless, he showed off his talent in the offense and Kansas City loves what they’re seeing from the former first-round pick.

“We got him in here in the middle of the season and so there’s only so much you can do with him. He’s extremely smart so it’s not going to be anything [with] grasping ideas or concepts. We were surprised with how quickly he picked it up.”

Veach followed that statement up with, “I think the sky is the limit for him.”

If that’s the case, then Kadarius Toney might just be in for a big year for the Chiefs.

It’ll be interesting to see how he and Patrick Mahomes build chemistry throughout the offseason. Toney is clearly a versatile weapon on the football field. So it’s now wonder Kansas City made the initial trade.

With that said, keep an eye on the Chiefs and Kadarius Toney, as the team is very excited about his future.
