With Super Bowl LVII coming up, the big names discussed are usually the two star quarterbacks in Eagles Jalen Hurts and Chiefs Patrick Mahomes. But Kansas City Defensive Tackle Chris Jones is just as important to the defense of the Chiefs as Mahomes is to the offense. The 1st Team All-Pro selection in 2022 recorded career high 44 tackles and 15.5 sacks this season.

Jones’s relentless motor is a key reason to the success of the team. His presence is very important for Kansas City’s hopes to stop Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia’s offense on Super Sunday. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the star Defensive Lineman told media that he’s feeling sick as we head to the Super Bowl, according to the NFL Network.

“I had a chance to talk to Chris Jones yesterday and he told me, ‘I am not feeling very well.’ Dry eyes, runny nose, sore throat,” reporter James Palmer added, “We’ll see how things go today when he hits the podium and see if he’s feeling any better because he is a key part to this defense and a key part of how things can go down for this game in Super Bowl 57.”

Palmer also said that other Chiefs players are battling some level of illness as well.

History Almost Repeats Itself

In the Chiefs Super Bowl against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady, Kansas City also dealt with alarming sickness news when Patrick Mahomes was among 20 people slated to receive a haircut from a barber who tested positive for COVID during the week leading up to the big game.

Luckily no one missed the big game. Hopefully no one misses this one due to illness either.
